In all of the reviews of property management software, the application process appears to be the least automated. Oddly, this is a large savings opportunity. A property owner may pay 10% of rent for property management and 1/2 of a month’s rent in finding a renter.
What we need is workflow.
A company should exist where potential renters can enter their information and their background check can be automated. Credit reporting companies, such as Accurate Credit Bureau could check the data and automatically respond with the data. The rental application service would then compare the applicant against preset criteria and rank that person against all other applicants and previous renters. The report presented to the property manager/owner could be scrubbed of overly-personal information until the lease is ratified by both parties.
